Do you ever take a picture of a Great Moment and then find that your picture isn’t so great? I do it a lot. Especially, when taking pictures of children. You just never know when their moods are going to change and when you are dealing with a child that is being a little shy and reserved… then for a moment they show an amazing smile, but the lighting has changed and your camera wasn’t ready. I am sure that it happens to everyone, but many times the picture can be saved. It just takes a bit more effort and work.
In the example below, the original was dark and poor Bridget had some harsh shadows across her face. All of that was cleared up after the edits and in the end, I cropped the image and simulated a painting. Not bad for an original image that had a poor exposure.
